IMPORTANT AND URGENT :  SWINE FLU

Dear Parents and my dear Students,

I would like to invite your attention to our circular dated August 10, 2009 on the same subject.  As you may be aware there are reports of increasing number of children being affected with Swine Flu with the onset of winter.  I would therefore like to share with you a couple of measures that could help prevent or cope with swine flu.

1.         The health safety of your child as a consequence that of other children are the most important priority in your life as well as in ours, so do not hesitate to seek medical assistance if you notice any symptoms such as:  fever, muscle aches, lethargy, coughing, headache, sore throat, runny nose, vomiting and diarrhea to rule out Swine Flu.  A child who is infected with ordinary flu or cough or cold is perhaps more prone to be infected, hence caution is the right step.

2.         The best prevention is to have good hygiene practices.  There are a couple of measures that one could take as a precaution: When you cough or sneeze without covering your nose and mouth with a tissue, those droplets can spread and others will be at risk of breathing them in.  Therefore: Always carry tissues; Use clean tissues to cover your mouth and nose when you cough and sneeze; Trash the tissues after single use; Wash hands often with soap and hot water or a sanitizer gel.

Children affected with flu like symptoms should be kept at home until he or she is absolutely free from the symptoms.  You are also requested to inform the school when there is a case of swine flu in your family so that the school can take necessary measures to prevent further spread.

Preventive Homeopathic and Ayurvedic medicines that are reported to boost immunity against H1N1  are apparently available and have been effectively used, and you may seek medical advice too.

Wishing all of you good health,

Yours sincerely,

Fr. J.A. Carvalho

Principal
